The event is on from 10am-8pm, tickets are available on the resident advisor website.

We caught up with Carly Wilford, DJ, Presenter and Creator of SISTER Collective, for a quick chat about what we can expect from Take Note and her love of all things vintage.

Hi Carly, what have been up to recently?

This summer has been crazy. I have played some next level gigs, worked with some amazing brands, managed to play and be part of some of my favourite festivals, travelled loads and also soaked up the sunshine too. Sometimes DJ’ing can mean that you’re not at home much so I decided to try and find a bit more balance this year. Smash out gigs and then get home and chill out.

What can we expect from the Take Note event?

I have been working closely with Take Note for the past few years, as a conference it’s groundbreaking. It’s really intimate and friendly and the level of talent and experience on each of the panels is like no other event I have ever spoken at. If you are wanting to break in to the music industry or understand more about how to push your career forward, it’s really worth getting involved.

Why are events like this important to you?

Sometimes the music industry can feel like a million miles away and to break through you have to navigate a sea of email addresses and LinkedIn profiles. Meeting people in person can change the course of your career, from managers to agents, musicians and producers. I love events like Take Note as you never know who you will end up sitting next to and what that will lead to.

Are there any upcoming events you are involved in?

I am playing at Egg in London this weekend supporting Alison Wonderland which will be major. We also have a SISTER Collective gig at The Book Club on 27th September with me, Kareful, L U C Y and Shan McGinley too. I am also working super closely with The North Face at the moment so watch out for what’s next with that.

How long have you been a fan of Rokit and vintage clothing?

I lived in East London for a very long time so Rokit on Brick Lane for me was always a treasure trove for finding unique, one off pieces. When I play a lot of gigs, I need cool and different clothes (sometimes very last minute) and I always head to Rokit to see what I can discover.

Do you have any favourite vintage pieces?

I have the most incredible Golden tasselled leather jacket that I found online by accident. It has a eagle painted on the back and it’s my go to if I ever want to feel bad ass. Vintage jackets are my thing. I’ve also been buying loads of old school sunglasses recently which is kind of getting out of hand - haha!

Thanks Carly :)
