Vintage Black Satin Early 50's Evening Jacket -S
This is an incredibly unusual and striking evening jacket.
Dating around the late 40's, early 50's the jacket is made of black satin with an open neck, ending in three small covered button fastenings. A hook and eye join the waist and there are two pockets above the hips. The bottom of the jacket has no fastenings and falls open - allowing for the skirt or dress underneath to be displayed.
The jacket has been incredibly well loved which does mean there are patches of visible mendings and some marks, but this also gives the garment character, history and sense of past which is so cherished in vintage clothing of this age.
There is a real sense of mystery with this piece - its longer form and shorter sleeves do not naturally allow us to see where and how it was worn most, which makes it feel incredibly special and unique for any true lovers of the period.
