An incredible rare and collectable jacket from the victorian era that is both in beautful condition for its age and a wonderful piece of unique history.
The Victorian coat belonged to the unifrom rank of the Knights of Pythias an American fraternity/ secret society/ members club very much like the freemasons which still functions today although the uniform rank disbarded early in the 19th Century.
In 1878, the Uniform Rank of Knights of Pythias came into legal being by action of the Supreme Lodge. The membership mushroomed. The URKP was organized completely along U. S. Army lines into Companies, Bridgades, Regiments, etc. The emblem chosen for the organization was that of the Lilly and the URKP became known as the “Army of the Lilly”
