Founded in 1951, Gloverall is a quintessentially British brand that’s home to a legendary duffle coat design. Originally designed in Belgium, members of the British Royal Navy started wearing duffle coats in the late 1800s but it wasn’t until after World War Two that the coats gained popularity with the public after being sold as surplus military stock. H&F Morris - wholesalers of gloves and overalls - saw how popular the coats had become and decided to create their own version for their new company Gloverall. They tweaked the original Belgian design by adding leather straps and an Italian check fabric and soon became globally renowned for its excellent quality and craftsmanship. By the 1960s these coats were being exported all over the world, earning Gloverall recognition for export sales in the 1977 Jubilee Honours list, and were even worn by the British team at the 1980 Winter Olympics in New York.
