Founded in Massachusetts in 1908 as the “Converse Rubber Shoe Company”, this iconic brand started out as a manufacturer of shoes with rubber soles for men, women, and children. In 1915 it began producing athletic shoes and in 1917 it introduced the Converse All Star trainers that made it legendary. A few years later in 1923, Converse employed basketball player Charles “Chuck” Taylor to work as a representative and ambassador, making him the very first celebrity to endorse trainers. His star power gained the brand a whole new legion of fans and his signature was later added to the All Star logo on the classic Converse design.
