A rare and collectable 1970s jacket from artist and designer Burray Olson. Olson's leather jackets were worn by many 1970s musicians and he designed posters for Big Brother & the Holding Company amongst others. Olson was also friends with actor and musician Harry Dean Stanton and made many suits and jackets for him.

This buttery tan leather jacket is a beautiful example of the craftsmanship of Olson's designs. The jacket fastens at the front with an unusual front bib placket. The metal buttons are hand-beaten tooled coins and a folk art style beaded motif is attached to the bib fastening. Very 70s in style the jacket features a dog ear collar as well as a thin fringe detail on the chest sleeves and back. A further plaited leather braid detail is present on the chest back and cuffs. There is a single metal button at each cuff but there are two buttonholes suggesting one button is missing from each cuff. The coat has some marks but these to not detract from the beauty of this one-of-a-kind piece.
