Debuted in 1953 and with such breezey advertising slogans as, 'Give it a whirl... It's a Turnabout' and 'The Turnabout Turns to Tender Colors', the Pendleton Turnabout skirt was an instant classic. Along with the Poodle skirt, which debuted in the same collection, the Turnabout was top of the wants list for all teenage girls.
And this example really does turn to tender colours. In black, pale green and peachy pink on one side, the reversible skirt turned out becomes a peachy pink all over, the black between the pleats only visible as the wearer moves.
