This jacket was made by the renowned Alpha Industries for the US Navy in the 80s.
Originally developed by the U.S. Navy in 1970, the Extreme Cold Weather Impermeable jacket was used by Navy personnel assigned to exposed sea or land duty during extreme cold/windy or extreme cold/wet weather, such as shipboard watchmen.
The rugged jacket had a water-repellent nylon shell, corduroy collar, and quilted plastic foam lining throughout the body and sleeves. In addition to insulating the jacket, the unique foam lining provided some emergency buoyancy in the event a seaman fell overboard.
Similarly, the matching Extreme Cold Weather Impermeable trousers and hoods were made from the same durable nylon material designed to withstand even the harshest weather conditions encountered by Navy personnel.
There are some condition issues with this jacket. It has various stains and marks all over but a particularly large orange one on the front and the centre of the inner lining.
