Own this US team sports jacket from the 1948 St Moritz Winter Olympics and you will own a piece of sporting and design history.
Made by Dormer Werner Outfitters for members of the US team, this jacket is a real rarity. In black wool gabardine, it features an unusual carmine red draped panel on the front. There is a metal zip fastening on the right shoulder and a black rib knitted collar which can be worn up (fastened with the original black plastic buttons) or folded down. At the neck there are three insignia patches front and back; representing Engleberg, Lenzerhelde and Davos-Parsenn. These are framed by a scalloped white braid. The loose fitting body finishes in dropped sleeves with rib knit cuffs. It is in near pristine condition given its age and considerable provenance.
