Stuff We Love: Agata Olek's "I Do Not Expect To Be A Mother But I Do Expect To Die Alone"
Those of you who are London-based this weekend should definitely check out Polish artist Agata Olek's sculptural crocheted installation piece entitled "I do not expect to be a mother but I do expect to die alone".
An entire living quarters filled with random objects is covered in Olek's signature cartoon-bright camouflage motif crochet, with wall hangings and furnishings emblazoned with explicit messages from the artist's own correspondence, forming a deeply personal commentary on both her place as a female artist and in wider society.
See it at: Tony's gallery, Shoreditch
For fans of: the reference is obvious, but Tracy Emin - the work's title is taken from a 2002 blanket by Emin entitled "I Do Not Expect".
