Caro Emerald Revives Golden Age of Jazz With UK Tour

Posted on

A throwback to the jazz era of the 1940s and '50s, with her coiffed curls, plunging necklines and red lippy, Dutch vocalist Caro Emerald is about to take on the UK for a tour of her latest album. Read on for our take on the sultry seductress, the lowdown on her tour and how you can acheive Caro's chic European pin up style.

Performing with a full live band, Caro's music really does bring that big band era to life. Fusing pop and jazz in a way that is completely addictive, expect a set filled with retro toe tappers and soothing melodies.

We don't know about you, but when Caro lets loose with her dreamy vocals we can't imagine anything other than being carried off to a jazz bar somewhere in a seedy French town, sipping G&T's and throwing a few moves. Ballroom jazz influences and cinematic tango's inspired by the music and films of the 1940s and '50s are woven throughout her music, sounding as though they were recorded in the heat of the golden age of jazz and Hollywood. For music so reminiscent of that recorded over 60 years ago, Caro remains contemporary and relevant, playing around with her vintage style and bringing it straight into 2017.

Touring the follow up to her debut album, no doubt Caro will also be playing around with some of the old favourites we've worn our record players out spinning on repeat. Overall her music is bold, brassy and seductive in a way that few vocalists have managed to achieve. We can't wait to see what her latest tour has in store, or what she'll be wearing for that matter.

Get Caro's Pin-up Style

Pin-up style can be a hard one to nail so let us give you a helping hand. Sometimes, casual just doesn't cut it and flared and fitted dress up is in order. Curves feel right at home in pin-up styles, they hug and flatter in all the right places and create and celebrate beautiful feminine figures. The 1940s and '50s were the golden age of the pin-up, and lucky for you ladies our railes are teaming with the stuff. Opt for fitted waists, midi lengths and lots of floof to your skirt to guarantee fitted, flirty flawlessness. We've picked a few of our favourite ways Caro channels Pin-up style and recreated the looks with our own original vintage dresses. Click on the products to scoop your own slice of the vintage pie.

Casual Pin-up How To

If casual and pin-up were ever to be uttered in the same sentence, the outcome would look like this. Can you imagine promenading down the Champs-Élysées clutching a bag of croissants and humming along to Edith Piaf? Well if the answer is yes, then buy all of these things immediately and book a spontaneous trip to Paris. Or tickets to one of Caro's upcoming gigs. Whichever takes your fancy!
