In Residence: Princess Julia
'It' girls come and go like nobody's business in London, but very few come and stick around long enough to make a lasting impression. i-D culture correspondent, Dazed columnist and Man About Town editor at large Princess Julia has been coming and not going for the best part of the last 30 years, not to mention she's been doing the rounds on the DJ circuit since then. She's kind of a big deal around these parts. Once a member of the eponymous Blitz kids, she caused more than a bit of a stir during the '80s with the likes of Boy George and Leigh Bowery, held accountable for catapulting the New Romantic phase that dominated the decade, the Bloomsbury set of the 1980s if you will. It's fair to say that Julia is what some, meaning us and everyone who's anyone, might call a bit of an institution. When Julia agreed to drop by our North London warehouse to rack the rails, we couldn't resist whipping out the camera and getting her to play dress up.
