Hackney Rose's 3 Ways to Wear..The LBD
The LBD has always been a key staple in any woman's wardrobe, you have that one special dress that you keep, knowing it's your safety net in any outfit emergency. However, no fashionista is supposed to be caught wearing something twice! Right? I thought I would find a way for one plain simple velvet dress to look completely different by styling it in three key looks I would wear myself. Keeping along the theme of my personal blog, I opted to make a nod towards certain decades, The first outfit being 70's folk inspired, this is set to still be a huge trend through spring so don't discard that cape just yet! Layers were key with this look, starting with my fringed suede waistcoat underneath to give a pop of brown, helping to distinguish the black dress from my leather jacket. The star of the show is this wool blanket cape, it has a gorgeous ikat print, and is incredibly warm through these chilly January days!
Next I went for more of a mad men vibe, 60s is one of my favorite eras and again urban 60's is very popular in the fashion world right now. I layered underneath with a pointed collar polka dot shirt and cinched my waist in with a belt. Picking out the colour in the shirt I started adding accessories, mint green socks with white shoes, and a mustard yellow bag with white sunglasses. The shirt brings the whole outfit together making it work wonderfully, to complete the look add a little mini bouffant!
Last but not least, I went for a party look, a vintage turban is a favorite of mine, it is great for throwing on if you don't have time to do your hair and is an instant glamour fix! To make mine even more fabulous I fixed a sparkly brooch to the front! This outfit is quite simple but involves a lot of texture to keep it interesting! A gorgeous embellished cardigan layered with a pop of purple from my fur stole. Small holed fishnets keep the look classy not trashy and make legs look super skinny! Finishing with a black bag and simple black courts to bring it all together!
It's going to be a long time before we all disown this staple! Long live the LBD!
