LFW Faves: Ashish
For AW12 Ashish took us back to his native India with a collection called Bollywouldn't. Ashish by numbers, maybe - sequins? Check. Slouchy shapes? Check. Layering? Check. A heavy dose of the 90s? Check.
We say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and it looks like Ashish agrees: sequinned shorts and loose fitting tees, chunky knits and laid back parkas showed no sign of departure from his signature grunge-meets-cruise-ship-crooner aesthetic.
The eastern and acid house influences were all new, though. To quote Afrika Bambaataa, this was a collection about peace, unity, love and having fun - inner peace was given a tongue in cheek twist with 'Cloud 9' slogan football tops and 'Om Sweet Om' vests rubbing shoulders with re-imagined rave motifs, smiley faces, CND signs, braided Glastonbury circa 1993 hair, and plenty of tie dye.
